A RENEWED FOCUS
The creation of the City of Hopewell’s 2003 Downtown Development Plan and our Main Street designation in 2011 are both evidence of Hopewell’s re-awakening. The City has invested close to $15 Million dollars in the form of new streetscapes, the re-opening of the Beacon Theatre, a beautiful new library, a remodeled Marina, and the public-private partnership that fueled the redevelopment of the Butterworth warehouse into the Butterworth Lofts.

MORE THAN $2.5M INVESTED IN OUR COMMUNITY
Since Main Street designation, the Hopewell Downtown Partnership (Hopewell’s Main Street organization) has captured nearly $2.5 million for Downtown in the form of grant funds, technical assistance, and sponsorships and spurred over $20 million of public and private investment through its championing of revitalization. From new festivals to major property redevelopments and rehabs, Downtown Hopewell is beginning to make a comeback. We invite you to be a pioneer and to get in on the ground floor with us.

DOWNTOWNS ARE MAKING A COME-BACK
For the past 60 years, our nation has focused on an auto-centric suburban sprawl mentality that has presented enormous challenges in respect to the environment, the country’s infrastructure, and the overall quality of life.
Many Americans are starting to recognize that a shift is needed, especially in light of the dire economic choices this country now faces. Consumer preferences and where they choose to live are beginning to change so they don’t rely so heavily on unsustainable resources.
CHANGING TRENDS
According to the latest research, professionals prefer living in downtowns but are moving away from large urban centers due to the ongoing pandemic and soaring housing costs. Downtown Hopewell’s size, location, history, and affordability make it an ideal community to capitalize on these new trends and pave the way for the upward mobility of the city at large.
