Hopewell Mural Initiative

The Hopewell Mural Initiative is a place-making project through the Hopewell Downtown Partnership intended to increase Arts and Culture in downtown Hopewell, furthering the revitalization effort of the historic district. Earlier in 2019, the Downtown Partnership received a grant from the State Department of Housing and Community Development to support several murals in downtown Hopewell.

A committee has been developed comprised of local artists, city planners, local arts non-profit, and Hopewell residents. The committee has selected the side facade of the Butterworth Lofts for the first wall mural. This site is highly visible from many points in downtown, is centrally located, and is one of the larger walls within the district. See site picture below.

We are now looking for qualified mural artists to submit their qualifications.

Please use the link below to download the Request For Qualifications document and submit the required information utilizing the form below (or click Here).  Three artists will be selected and provided a stipend to develop concept drawings for the mural.  The community will then vote on their top choice and the mural will be commissioned according to the details outlined in the RFQ.

Deadline to submit is Friday, January 31st
